Tour of the Appian Way
with wine tasting

The Appian Way is not just any road. It is one of the oldest roads in the Roman world .

Here the city ends and the Roman countryside begins. The ancient paving , the aqueducts , the open fields tell the story of a landscape that has remained almost unchanged for centuries, far from the traffic of the city but only 1 km from the center of Rome.

Once past Porta San Sebastiano, you enter the Regina Viarum, where you encounter the Catacombs of San Callisto, the Tomb of Cecilia Metella, the Tomb of Romulus, and many other monuments that have accompanied those who travel this road for two thousand years.

Cycling along the Appian Way you will understand why the Romans called it Regina Viarum : the road that connected Rome to the rest of the Empire.

And along the way we will stop for a tasting of local wine , in a place where the agricultural tradition of the Roman countryside is still alive.
