I Musei Capitolini concludono le celebrazioni per i 450 anni dalla morte di Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) con la mostra "Vasari e Roma". Curata da Alessandra Baroni, l'esposizione indaga il legame profondo tra l'artista aretino e la Città Eterna, luogo cruciale per la sua formazione attraverso lo studio dell'antico e il confronto con geni quali Raffaello e Michelangelo.
Il percorso espositivo vanta una ricca selezione di dipinti autografi, disegni, lettere e sculture provenienti da prestigiose istituzioni internazionali. Tra i capolavori spiccano le due versioni della Resurrezione (da Capodimonte e Siena) e la celebre Natività (o Notte di Camaldoli), nota per i suoi suggestivi effetti luministici. La mostra documenta l'intera evoluzione di Vasari: dal virtuosismo del Manierismo giovanile fino alla densità spirituale delle ultime opere, come l'Orazione nell’Orto e l'Annunciazione. L'evento restituisce la complessità di una figura poliedrica — pittore, architetto e biografo — che ha saputo interpretare e narrare le vite dei grandi protagonisti del XVI secolo.

The Capitoline Museums conclude the celebrations marking the 450th anniversary of the death of Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) with the exhibition "Vasari and Rome." Curated by Alessandra Baroni, the showcase explores the profound bond between the artist from Arezzo and the Eternal City—a crucial setting for his artistic development through the study of antiquity and the influence of masters like Raphael and Michelangelo.
The exhibition features a rich selection of autograph paintings, drawings, letters, and sculptures on loan from prestigious international institutions. Highlights include two versions of the Resurrection (from Capodimonte and Siena) and the famous Nativity (also known as the Night of Camaldoli), renowned for its striking lighting effects. The itinerary documents Vasari's entire evolution: from the virtuosity of his early Mannerist style to the spiritual intensity of his late masterpieces, such as the Agony in the Garden and the Annunciation. This event captures the complexity of a multifaceted figure—painter, architect, and biographer—who interpreted and chronicled the lives of the great protagonists of the 16th century.
